Post image for Baking Day 6/29

I've been busy baking and getting things ready for our upcoming road trip. Like on many of my baking days, I utilized my kitchen appliances (aka, my bread machine!) Here's what I got done for baking:

Bread Machine Buns

Soft Pretzels (double batch)

Chocolate Brownie Cookies

I also worked on a bunch of mixes to stick in my pantry:

Yellow Cake Mix (recipe coming)

Chocolate Brownie Cookies (just mixed together the dry ingredients)

Bread Machine Buns (just mixed together the dry ingredients)

Breadmaker Mix

Pancake Mix

More baking to do tomorrow!

Did you bake today? What did you make?

How long do the mixes last in the pantry in the jars? I have been using plastic bags with my food saver, but I really hate using plastic. I would prefer glass. Thank you for your help.

I’m not 100% sure because we always use them up but I would say that last for several months at least.

I bake on Mondays most weeks. :) We grind our own flour from wheat berries (they’re cheap if you buy them in 50lb bags), so it takes a couple of days of child labor to get enough for my usual two to four loaves. I make a hearty wheat bread and an onion bread (done with dehydrated onions from the farmer’s market). Every once in a while I’ll do a loaf of white, but I always feel guilty when I do. LOL… Sometime soon I need to make a few batches of bagels, because it’s a staple around here.

I baked peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies to take to friends tonight. Had to bake this morning while it was still cool out!

When do you hope to have the yellow cake recipe posted? I was just about to begin a new search for one to make for my son’s 13th birthday. Any chance you might get that done in the next two days? :-)
