Up until a few months ago I'd never heard of Bountiful Baskets but now I'm happy I found them. I received an email from a reader a few months ago that we would be getting a Bountiful Baskets Co-op in our area starting in May. Currently, Bountiful Basket is available in: Texas, Idaho, Colorado, South Dakota, Oregon, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Washington.
Currently our local area is only recieving baskets once every 2 weeks. Most other locations get deliveries once a week. Here's how it works:
Each week you order your basket online(South Dakota is available starting Monday at noon) The conventional baskets are $15 and you can upgrade to an organic basket for $25. They also have extras available that you can purchase with your regular basket, like last time I ordered 2 25lb boxes of organic Roma tomatoes for only $16 each.
So, you order your basket on Monday and the truck delivers the fruit and vegetables on Saturday. Volunteers can come to the site early and help sort out the produce. then you bring your own basket and pick up your share of produce.
I wish I would have gotten a picture of my last pick up but I forgot! If you are interested I can taken one next week when I order again. The first week we ordered the organic basket and I've been very happy with it. It was about 20 - 25lb of all certified organic produce. Last week we picked up a conventional basket for my mom along with my tomatoes and it was at least 20 -25lbs of produce.
Does anyone else order from Bountiful Baskets? Have you been happy with what you've gotten?
