Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

If it were acceptable (and healthy), I would just eat the cookie dough of all the cookies I made instead of baking them. What is it about the dough that’s so good? This recipe combines two of my favorite foods- chocolate and cookie dough. Can it get any better than that?

Chocolate Chips

Ingredients in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

  • Butter. You will want to soften this or have it at room temp before using it to make it easier to blend. Use vegan butter for dairy-free.
  • Brown Sugar. This isn’t a healthy recipe!
  • Flour. You can also use gluten-free all-purpose flour for a gluten-free version.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk. One regular-sized can is what this recipe needs. You could use coconut sweetened condensed milk for dairy-free.
  • Vanilla extract. You can use Homemade Vanilla extract or store bought.
  • Chocolate chips. You will need a lot for this recipe because you use them 2 ways. I like to use mini chocolate chips for the inside. The outside melted chocolate can be any kind you like!

These are my son’s favorite! I make them every Christmas. I make them ahead and freeze them. I’m lucky if they make it to Christmas because he keeps sneaking in the freezer and eating them!

Step By Step Instructions for Making Cookie Dough Bites

Whip the butter and the brown sugar until fluffy.

Add in the rest of the ingredients and about 1/2 c. of the chocolate chips. Let the dough cool off in the fridge for about an hour or until firm enough to handle.

After the dough has cooled, form it into little balls. This recipe will make quite a few! Put the balls in the freezer for 2 hours or until hard enough for the next step.

Melt the rest of the chocolate chips and coat the dough balls. I decorated mine with some things I had in the pantry, like the white chocolate chips I melted for the one on the back right of the picture, and the one on the back right of the picture has crushed Butterfinger’s on it.

  2. Hello! I would like to try these, they look yummy! I would like to clarify though, do you leave the flour raw or do you cook it on the stovetop? You did mention about cooling off the mixture… Thanks!

    1. This recipe does not need to be cooked, the dough just needs to be “chilled” in the fridge for a while to harden up a bit before you add the chocolate.

  3. Can’t wait to try these. Can you please tell me how much does a stick of butter weigh? I live in New Zealand and butter is sold in 500gram blocks here. I have been enjoying your site, especially as we are going to be little house living very soon! Thanks for all the great tips and recipes.

    1. Make sure you use SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK. A good brand is “Eagle Brand”. It comes in white or chocolate flavors. I have never tried the chocolate flavor. It will add sweetness and moisture.

  5. I like the looks of this recipe except for one thing. You forgot to tell ppl to pasteurize their flour. You can either do this in the microwave or in the oven (being careful not to overdo it) and it only needs to be be done on doughs that you are eating raw or using a recipe that will not be cooked fully. E coli is being a problem lately with more raw dough recipes that are coming out.
