Creamy Pumpkin Pie Tea Recipe

For many years now I’ve been making my own loose-leaf teas. These teas have been sold in our coffee shop, through our bulk foods company, and also given to friends and family.

One of my favorite teas that I make is Creamy Pumpkin Pie Tea. The tea is a delicious warming, herbal tea that has a flavor that is reminiscent of a spicy pumpkin pie. It’s easy to make and delicious to drink, plus it makes a great gift.

Pumpkin Pie Tea is a loose tea that can be steeped and then enjoyed plain, or I like mine with a bit of creamer or milk. It definitely captures the season and smells just like a freshly baked pumpkin pie.

I make this loose leaf tea with Honeybush but you could also use a rooibos tea if that’s what you have. You can even use black tea but that will contain caffeine. Stick with an herbs tea for caffeine free.

**Note: While we call this Pumpkin Pie Tea because it has all the pumpkin pie spices, it does not actually contain pumpkin puree. Just wanted to clear that up before I get a bunch of comments asking. 🙂

I get all of my tea making supplies from Frontier. I’ve linked to it in all of the ingredients above.

Instructions for Making Pumpkin Pie Loose Tea

Combine all ingredients together in a small bowl and mix until everything seems to be distributed evenly. Store the tea mixture in a jar or air-tight container until ready to use.

To make tea: Steep one tablespoon of the loose-leaf tea in a tea ball or tea strainer in a mug of hot water for about 3-5 minutes.

To make this tea creamy and more like pumpkin pie, add in a little maple sugar/maple syrup or brown sugar plus some milk or cream (we use oat milk or coconut milk/coconut cream in this one for our family) until it has the desired level of sweetness and creaminess. A little drop of vanilla extract is also a tasty addition.

This is an herbal tea and is naturally caffeine free.

  1. I’m just wondering how it would tasted to add in some chopped dehydrated pumpkin to this mix! Real pumpkin tea! Sounds YUMMY!

  2. My daughter loves this tea, too! I usually purchase it premade but I have all the ingredients from BHS to make my own. When you say you used about twice as much red rooibos as the other ingredients, do you mean twice as much red rooibos as all the other ingredients combined?

    Thanks!

  3. I’m planning to make jars of this tea for Christmas gifts this year. Thank you for what I hope will be a warm and delicious gift.

  4. This recipe is the perfect amount to put in a half-pint canning jar, which makes an ideal gift for the tea lover in the family. Thank you Marissa for an excellent tea recipe.
