Make Ahead Breakfasts for a Busy Season

We all go through busy seasons in our lives and it’s nice when we can prepare for them as much in advance as possible. Summer and fall are always busy seasons for me because we are gardening and harvesting. This time it’s been extra busy with my hubby starting a new job during this time as well, plus we are officially starting school as of this week!

I love planning and putting together make ahead meals so that I know no matter what we are going through, my family will be well fed even if I don’t have all hours of the day to get meals on the table. Make ahead meals are also especially nice for those that work outside the home and don’t have as much time to spend over the stove.

Today I’m sharing with you some easy breakfast ideas that you can make in advance as we go into another busy time for most of us…back to school season. I hope that you can use these to plan out your weekly menu and to get your family fed and happy before they head off or start school in the morning! Make sure you share your favorite make ahead breakfasts in the comments section.

  1. Great ideas! I like to make sausage and egg ‘muffins’ ahead of time, So easy to grab one from the fridge and eat cold or heat up in the microwave quickly.

  2. I love make ahead breakfast recipes! Overnight oatmeal warming in the oven is the one aroma I know will get everyone out of bed! Especially on a cold and snowy morning! Merissa, I was also wondering(and hoping) to know if you are still working on the interior of your house and if you plan to post anymore pictures? I loved seeing them and used a few of your pictures to inspire some of my own vintage home renovations. I joke that my house has to be owned by at least 2 people-one to hold it up while the other person lives in it!

  3. Thank you for the “busy season recipes”. They look and sound scummiest. The end of the season or me is to see the fall harvest is waning by means of the canning jars growing on the pantry shelves. It is a blessing to gather fresh food from the garden and harvest apples from a tree that you planted. The Liberty Apple was planted in honor my father’s twenty-five years in the Army. My tree was planed spring 2008. The harvest was so plentiful this year that I was able to share apples with two other families ….plus can: applesauce, apple butter, and jelly. Count your blessings.

  4. This may sound like a strange question in relation to this post, but what kind of blender do you have? Thanks for the breakfast ideas.

  6. I am bookmarking this! The next day I have a little extra time I’ll be putting some together. We’re always busy in the mornings, and so have cereal more than I would like. Thanks for sharing on Weekend Bites!

  7. We love our overnight french toast! Makes breakfast so much easier to have already whipped up! I need to try the oatmeal in the crockpot-I have never tried that!
Visiting from the Living Proverbs 31 link-up!

  8. What a great list, thank you so much! I love all the links to the muffin recipes–will have to try some of those.

I have a yeast pancake recipe that sits in the fridge all night. It makes Pancake Monday go a lot smoother at our house. Make ahead breakfasts are awesome!

  9. I’m always trying to get my kiddo to eat breakfasts thanks for all the planning ideas. Shared…Thanks for joining for the Inspiration Spotlight Party.
