Chocolate Toffee Bars

I came up with these little yummy treats the other day when I was making supper and just wanted a quick yummy dessert.

These thin little bars are just perfect: chocolate, toffee, and a sweet shortbread bottom. Plus, there are only 4 ingredients, and it only takes 15 minutes to bake. Does it get better than that?

This recipe ONLY uses basic pantry staples and no expensive ingredients like toffee bits, sweetened condensed milk, etc.

Ingredients in Chocolate Toffee Bars

  • Butter. You use butter in both the crust and the toffee topping. You can use salted or unsalted.
  • Flour. You just need plain all-purpose flour for this recipe. You can also use all-purpose gluten-free flour to make this recipe gluten-free.
  • Brown sugar. This is also used both in the shortbread crust and in the toffee topping. You can use dark or light brown sugar, just use what you have on hand.
  • Chocolate chips. I usually use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips for this recipe.

  1. Is this made in a 9 x 13 pan? If it is written in the directions, I didn’t see it. I was thinking of doubling it. I have to take something to our home group each week, but I need to leave some for my family.

    Thanks,

    Lynn

  2. My aunt made something like this but she put Saltine crackers on the bottom and the toffee and chocolate was drizzled or melted on top. It was sooooo good. Its a great way to use up Saltine crackers before they go stale. The sweet/salty combo is great.

  3. Hmm, I’m going to have to try this with coconut oil and coconut flour! (Can’t eat wheat or dairy.) Looks yummy! Thanks!

  4. Hello Merissa 😉 I am wondering is the toffee going to be hard when its done baking or does it need to set for a while? I use my woodstove to cook and bake right now while its winter time. So i wi be cooking it on there. kinda need to know what its saposto look like when it done.
