Toffee Crunch Bars

I love holiday baking. Not just one or two batches of cookies, I like to make as many as I can stuff in the fridge. I know it’s excessive but it being the holidays is my excuse. I love having the variety around, it’s fun to have all the different kinds! The thing is…it can get expensive. Flour, butter, eggs, chocolate chips, they all add up. Even with coupons things can be expensive. So I’ve decided to share with my readers lots of CHEAP holiday treats that still taste great!
The first treat I’ll share with you sounds kind of odd but trust me, there won’t be any left for company.
Toffee Crunch Bar Recipe
Ingredients in Toffee Crunch Bar Recipe
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- saltine crackers
- chocolate chips
Step By Step Instructions for Making Toffee Crunch Bars
Melt the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan. Boil for 1 minute.
Make 2 layers of saltine crackers in a pan. I used a 9″x8″ pan. You do not need to grease the pan. The butter will do that for you:)
Pour the butter/brown sugar mixture over the saltines. Make sure you cover all the saltines. Bake this at 400F for 5 minutes.
Put the chocolate chips on the top evenly. Bake for another 5 minutes. Use a knife or a frosting spreader to spread out the chocolate chips.
At this point they smell so yummy you will have to eat one! That’s it, enjoy!

Yummy, and so frugal! I have made your cheesecake and gummys and we love them. So I cannot wait to make these for my family. Thanks so much.
I would LOVE to try this with graham crackers!
Valerie: That was my first thought too but after I tried them I realized they didn't need any extra sweetness(for us anyways!) and you can't really tell they are made from saltines:)
My favorite treats! Dangerous to make because I cannot stop eating them. We sprinkle colored jimmies on them for Christmas cuteness, too.
