Another article was released recently that talks about 11 things that will be more expensive in 2012. Some of the things on this list are technology items and might not effect our day to day living but here are the things I thought were important.
Gas: I think the price of gas is pretty much always going up. What always amazes me is that people complain about gas prices continually going up and down but if you actually look at the numbers over the years, the price of gas hasn’t gone up as much as it could have (to keep consistant with inflation) so we really don’t have it all that bad. (This is one of my glass is half full things!) What ways do you save on gas other than not travelling as much?
Shipping: We’ve already been told they will be closing down post offices and sorting centers. (Including the one in my town!) So higher shipping costs shouldn’t come as much surprise. One of the ways I save on shipping is to buy an Amazon Prime membership. Last year when hubby found out I spent $80 on a year of Amazon Prime he was not so happy with me but it’s paid itself off over and over and over.
Water: Apparently the costs of water are going to increase in the cities to raise more revenue for town budgets. This is one reason I’m thankful that we will be moving to well water later this year. I’d also like to set up some kind of rainwater system to conserve on water. Do any of you have such a system right now?
Food Prices: They are predicting a 2% increase in food prices over the 2012 year. However, the article states that there was only a 6% increase in 2011 and I think it was higher than that. I’ve decided to be even more proactive with home preserving and canning this year to help cut down on my costs. What about you?
Let’s make predictions…what do you think will be going up in price this year? What do you plan to do about it, if anything?
