Me and the hubby love checking out antique stores. We both have several different things we like to look for and it’s just fun to go through all the different things from a more simple time.
I found 2 gallon size crocks. I love these things for kitchen storage! I’m not into a particular design or brand because I just use them for the storage so I can usually get them cheaper. I paid $22 for both of these. One is destined to become a potato holder in my kitchen and the other doesn’t have a purpose just yet.
Oh I’ve been wanting one of these for years! They sell these strainers on Amazon but they just aren’t the same quality as these good old ones. I can’t wait to use mine on making applesauce and berry preserves this fall! I got this guy for $17.
I love vintage Pyrex too! I’m always looking for good mixing bowls that are heavy duty with tall sides. This bowl fit the bill and it was only $3
This was my favorite little find from this trip. This recipe box is from the 1920’s. It’s not particularly special but when I picked it up to check it out I found….
…It was full! I spent an hour while driving yesterday trying to discover this person that owned the recipe box. (Or recipe cabinet as it was originally advertised) She was definitely a woman after my own heart, almost the whole box was filled with cookies, breads, and bars recipes and most of them use a nice helping of butter. 🙂
When I was glancing through the box before I bought it I came across this recipe for Kuchen. That’s when I knew the box had to be mine.
My best find though was too big to take home so we have to go pick it up later this week. I can’t wait to get it!
