I started last week by asking you to send in your frugal questions. I will try and answer them the best that I can and then we can get the help of the other readers by getting answers from them! You can go HERE to fill out the form and submit your frugal related question. All that enter have the opportunity to win a special giveaway( yet to be determined but I will announce the prize when I figure it out!) Plus there is NO limit to how many questions you can submit and each one will give you a chance to win the prize. Go HERE to find out more info and to ask me your question.
This question is from Bonnie. She asked:
Dishwashing detergent, do you use one that is homemade and does it work?
Right now I am using Seventh Generation dishwasher detergent. I found it on clearance for only 1.99 at Family Thrift Center and I bought about 5 boxes. I don’t like using regular detergent because it has some scary ingredients. Right now I’m also using Jet Dry that I got with some freebie coupons.(That stuff lasts forever!) However, I decided that when it’s all gone I will be making my own detergent. And for a rinse I will just use vinegar. Vinegar works just fine and your dishes do no smell like vinegar when you use it. Here is the recipe I’m going to be using. I have yet to try it but I think it’s going to work since it’s similar to the homemade laundry detergent recipe that I know works.
- 1/2 c. Borax (You can get this at Target for 2.99 for a large box)
- 1/2 c. Washing Soda (This is not the same as baking soda)
- 1/4 c. Citric Acid
