Basic Wild Rice Recipe

If you’re looking for a simple and delicious wild rice recipe, look no further. This simple wild rice recipe takes about twenty minutes to cook and is full of delicious flavor without a lot of ingredients. It makes an excellent side dish to many meals, or simply add a protein and make it the star of dinner.

I feel like I’m pretty good at planning main dishes for my family meals but sometimes I have a tendency to forget the side dishes. However, I’m much more likely to make a side dish if it’s a simple recipe to follow which is exactly with this basic Wild Rice Recipe is!

Basic Wild Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ pre-mixed wild rice blend
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • ½ onion, diced
  • ½ cup carrots, diced
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Salt & pepper

In a medium sized pot, put in the rice, chicken stock, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, and then let it simmer at a low boil for fifteen minutes.

While it’s cooking, in a separate pan, heat the butter over a medium-high heat. Add the carrots, onions, parsley and salt and pepper to taste.

Let it cook for fifteen minutes while the rice cooks. When the rice has cooked for fifteen minutes, it should have absorbed most of the liquid. Add in the vegetable mixture to the rice, and continue cooking on low heat for another ten minutes.
