Mix the filling ingredients together and pour on top of the bottom pie crust. Top with the second crust dough. Cut slits in the top crust so the steam can escape. 1. Wish this was up a week ago, lol. My sister just canned a ton of apples we picked from a friend’s house. She loves apple pie! I will be sure to share this recipe with her:)

  2. Just saw your winter picture brr! I moan and moan about our weather here but although dull and rainy yesterday the temperature was 21 degrees Celsius beautiful picture though thanks for sharing!

  3. We have been picking apples from the trees in our yard and also received some from our CSA. So far, I have been making apple sauce, but I think I need to make some of this too! Those desserts look delicious!

  4. Hi Merissa! I’d really like to make your canned apple pie filling in order to use with your apple pie recipe, but I’m kind of confused about the directions. Are the spices and flour in the pie recipe needing to be added to the already created pie filling, even though it already has spices and cornstarch? I saw that you specified the sugar is only if your filling has none, but I’m not clear on the rest of it. I thought this filling was just something you could dump in an bake after making the crust? And if not, what is the reasoning behind that? Does it need an extra does of starch after cooking once? Thanks!

    1. You shouldn’t need to add the extra spices if you canned mix has them, that would be if you are only using canned apples instead of canned apple pie filling. You won’t need any extra starch for this recipe.

  5. Sorry, one more question! If you leave the thickener out ouf the apple pie filling, when you go to bake your pie with it, do you recommend using cornstarch or flour? And how much for one pie?

  6. Love this site! I found the apple pie filling recipe to late but I making your apple pie today. I used a different but close apple pie filling recipe that bubbled over while processing. Two jars didn’t seal. I’m hoping the other ones did. The buttons are down so they should be ok. But the two in my fridge are going to be pies. Can’t wait! Thanks for posting it!

    1. Yes. Stevia is heat stable and can be canned. Your local extension office should be able to give you more details and specifics if you need them 🙂

  7. Thank you for the recipes and ideas. I mix up cornbread batter from scratch. Spread half in bottom of 9 x 13 pan. Pour apple pie filling over this. Then I mix grated cheddar cheese with the rest of the cornbread batter and drop that onto the apple pie filling. Bake at 425 degrees until batter is done. Usually 20 to 25 minutes. Makes a good breakfast.
