Cheesecake Chocolate Chip Dip Recipe

It’s finally apple season! If I had to pick just one fruit, I would say that apples are my favorite. You can use them in so many different yummy dishes! They are perfect alone, they make a great dessert, and you can even can them! My favorite evening snack is a fresh crisp apple and some kind of yummy dip.

For fruit, we usually like to make this Yogurt Fruit Dip recipe, but sometimes you just need a little chocolate…am I right? 🙂

This chocolate cheesecake dip recipe is really quite simple but perfect either for a little snack or a special dip to take to get-togethers and potlucks. This recipe makes about enough to use with 2 sliced apples so if you plan on serving a larger group, you may want to double it.

What To Do:

Start by softening the cream cheese. You can do this by leaving it on the counter for a little while or by sticking it in the microwave for a few seconds. Once softened, add in the brown sugar.

One of our Facebook Group Members says: If you don’t have brown sugar on hand, you can easily make your own. Just add 1 1/2 Tablespoons of molasses to 2 cups of sugar. Store your leftover brown sugar in an airtight container. Join the conversation in our Frugal and Simple Living Group.

After you stir the mixture, let it sit and let the brown sugar “melt” into the cream cheese. It takes about 5 minutes for this. After it blends in, stir well.

Whip in the cocoa powder. You can do this with a spoon or if you prefer a really light and airy dip, you can mix it with the electric hand mixers. If you simply want a chocolate cheesecake dip you can stop here and enjoy! Otherwise, add in a small hand full of chocolate chips and stir until incorporated.

Looking for the perfect thing to dip your Chocolate Cheesecake dip with? Here are a few suggestions!

Apples – My favorite fruit to enjoy this with is apples. If you are making this dip to enjoy at a party, you may want to slice your apples in advance. To prevent them from browning, you can use one of the following methods:

  • Lemon Juice – Brush the apple slices with lemon juice or dip them in some lemon water. This will prevent apples from browning quickly but does add a bit of a tart, citrus taste to them.
  • Salt Water – Submerge your apple slices in saltwater after cutting. This may leave your apples with a slight salty taste if you use too much salt in your water (I recommend 1/2 teaspoon per cup of water), however, it’s a delicious contrast to the sweet dip recipe above.
  • Sprite or Gingerale– Soaking your apple slices in Sprite, Ginger Ale or other Citrus drinks will prevent them from browning without any added taste, however, it could allow the apples to absorb extra sugar.
  • Cut Underwater – I was skeptical of this one at first, but it works! If you cut your apple while it is submerged in water (using a bowl or the sink) it will prevent the oxidization process from starting and keep your apple slices looking fresh! Just be careful not to cut yourself, as cutting apples underwater is a bit tricky.

Fruit – Lots of other fruits would be delicious in this dip. Strawberries, grapes, pears, to name a few.

Graham Crackers- If you want something crunchy to go with your dip, these Homemade Graham Crackers would be delicious!

Vanilla Wafers – Another crunchy, cracker option are these yummy Homemade Vanilla Wafers

Gluten Free– Fruit is a naturally Gluten Free way to enjoy this dip, but you can also make the Graham Crackers or Vanilla Wafers Gluten free by using this Gluten Free All Purpose Flour in place of regualar flour.

  2. Oh, geez. I made the mistake of looking at this before I got up to fix dinner – now I’m wanting to just whip some up to eat “as a snack” while I’m cooking…and then of course I’ll not want to eat what I’m planning on serving. It looks delicious and easy, so I’m sure I won’t be disappointed.

  3. This looks so good-pinned it. Will try to make it for our holiday get-togethers. Started following you on Facebook.
