Cleaning out the kitchen has been a real challenge for me this week so far. I’m glad I made it our week 2 challenge because otherwise I know I would have pushed it off until the last week! So far I’ve just been focusing on cleaning out the cupboards. The rest of this week I’m going to be moving on to the fridge and the island. Both in serious need of a cleanout and I’m not looking forward to it at all! Above is a picture of my spice cabinet. It was BAD. So many old old spices and many more than I wasn’t using and never planned on using. It’s very clean, organized, and labeled now!
These are our dishes. I absolutely love dishes but I’m surprisingly minimalist when it comes to dishes for everyday use. (But I have a whole box-full of fun dishes for photography! After cleaning out this area and removing what we didn’t need I also set my tortilla press in this cupboard, although I think I will move it to the top shelf instead.
This cupboard is right next to the one above. It had an obscene amount of mugs in it and we aren’t even coffee drinkers! I weeded out all the cups we had and only kept what we needed. I also have oils in this cupboard since it’s right next to my stovetop and I threw away what was old. I also keep teas and drink mixes in here and I threw out what was expired. And yes, those few mugs on the top are all we are left with and only because they are part of my Corelle dinner set. 🙂
In this cupboard I have smaller amounts of baking things. (Flour, sugar, ect are all kept in 5 gallon buckets) I had a large number of empty containers in here so I cleaned them all out and only put back what was being used. I have a weakness for these Lock and Lock containers for storage!
So far for this week I’ve cleaned out 3 large trash bags of throw away and one overflowing box of to-sell.
