Frozen Lemonade Recipe

When we haven’t been dealing with incredible amounts of wind and rain, North Carolina has been getting temperatures in the upper 80’s and 90’s. It’s officially summer here! Summer means a lot of things- the beach, amusement parks, state fair, and road trips! There are also a few foodie items that are musts around this time as well!

I don’t know about you, but I distinctly remember grubbing on frozen lemonade every time we went to the fair or amusement park! Passing the little cart without stopping to get a big ol’ glass of that yellow goodness was not an option! Now, as an adult- I’m kind of grossed out about that fact because of all the junk that’s in those “wannabe” lemonades. Were there even actual lemons in them? I would guess not. Actually, I know there isn’t! I looked up the ingredients for a name-brand frozen lemonade and there were no lemons to be found. Also included were corn syrup and maltodextrin. Eww. That’s not exactly appetizing. How can they even put “lemonade” on the label without there being any lemons in it? Time to revamp! I’d like for my little people to enjoy such a treat this summer without all of the extra nonsense.

If you’re looking for an alternative to the fake stuff selling on the mainstream market, look no further than this insanely easy recipe! As a matter of fact, get the little ones to help out too!

Frozen Lemonade Recipe

What You Need:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 strawberries
  • 1 cup of ice

Directions:

-Mix everything together and blend! You can add more ice if you want it thicker. (I prefered to use the strawberries as my “sweetener”, but you can replace with a little bit of warm honey to taste.)

-Serve immediately

Could this be any easier? This recipe makes enough for two kiddo-sized glasses! Now you can have this tasty summer treat without all of the junk.
