Start a Winter Garden
I believe that everyone can have an indoor garden! I want to challenge you to grow at least one thing. Walgreens sells seed packets so grab a few there if you need them(they are cheap!) I’m going to be planting a few pepper plants and some lettuce. Check out my post about my winter garden HERE.
Start running the dishwasher on the short cycle
It will save electricity for not having to run as long and it will save water. It was also save electricity because the water heater won’t have to heat up as much water. I’m thinking you won’t even notice the difference and bonus(!) it will take less time to get your dishes clean and then you can have a more organized kitchen.
Use rags instead of paper towels
This will be a tough for me, I love my paper towels! You can get free rags from Menards all the time or you can just cut up old clothes or sheets to use. I’m going to keep them right under the sink so I’m not tempted to grab the paper towels. Not only are we saving money but we are recycling! Here’s just a fun little math equation for you… if you go through one roll of paper towel a week and you pay .50 per roll, that’s $26 a year. Normally I go through more than one roll a week(Especially when I use to them clean. I know, bad habit!) so if I switch to rags I will save at least $30-$50 a year just on paper towels. That will buy me a whole lot of groceries!
How did everyone do on last week? I had a little bit of a hectic week and I didn’t get my expense list started so I will this week. What about you?
