This week we are back to being conservative. Watching how much wasted food we throw away, eating cheaper meals, and unpluggin unessesary things. Here it is.
Don’t throw away any food.
This will be a challenging one. The average family of four throws away 122 pounds of food each month! That’s alot of wasted money that we are literally throwing in the garbage. An easy way to use up all the leftovers from the week is to have at least one designated leftover day each week. My mom used to do this and when the hubby found out about it he though it was so cool. Buffet! So once(or twice) each week get out all the leftovers and set them up buffet style. That way things get eaten up instead of hanging out in the back of the fridge until it gets moldy…
Unplug 2 things that you aren’t using.
Not everything that’s pulled in draws power when it’s off. For example, when a lamp is off, it’s off, it has no standby power and so it won’t draw electricty when it’s not turned on. Unplug things like the coffee maker, the bread machine, even your phone charger left plugged in will use power. Check out this table to see more info.
Go meatless 2 days per week.
We try to eat meatless at least one day a week anyways. Meat is one of the most expensive proteins per pound that you can buy. The hubby is resistant of this idea but I will try and make up for it with some great meals!
