Craftsy Review
I remember Craftsy from back in the day. (When it was called Bluprint!) I used to have a membership to get patterns, crafting products, and classes from their website (when I had a bit more time for crafting!). The site went away and came back completely redone with more classes and tutorials than ever!
A few of my friends started sending me links to it and so I decided to give it a try again so that I could share exactly how it works with you.
What Is Craftsy?
Craftsy is an online learning platform for all different kinds of crafting classes. The website contains over 2000+ classes in over 20+ crafting categories.
New classes are added regularly and the instructors are experts in their fields.
What Types of Classes Does Craftsy Have?
Craftsy has classes on:
- Baking
- Cooking
- Quilting
- Crocheting
- Sewing
- Knitting
- Photography
- Cake Decorating
- Yoga and Fitness
- Jewelry Making
- Woodworking
- Embroidery
- Gardening
- And More
The Craftsy Courses contain everything from beginner to advanced techniques from their expert instructors as well as downloadable class materials or downloadable patterns.
How Much is Craftsy Unlimited?
Right now you can get an entire year’s membership for just $0.99! (New members only.) A Craftsy Premium Membership is typically $10 for a monthly subscription or $97 for an annual subscription.
How Do You Use Craftsy?
I made a video so you can see exactly what Craftsy looks like once you are logged into the site and what you will find on each class. Check it out below!
What is the Difference Between Craftsy Premium and Gold?
Both membership plans will get you access to all of the classes. The main difference is that with the Gold membership, you will be able to download a certain amount of classes to keep forever, even if you don’t have an active membership.
What I Like About Craftsy
During the pandemic, I really got into taking online classes and refining my skills, especially at cooking. I found it both fun and challenging to learn new skills in areas that I thought I was fairly good at.
Craftsy reminds me of that time. A space where I can learn more and challenge myself in the skills that I already know to go to the next level.
I found that the videos were very thorough and that the Craftsy instructors were definitely experts in their field and highly qualified to teach classes. I do well with learning a new specific technique when following step-by-step expert instruction, especially when it’s an advanced challenge.
One other thing I really liked about Craftsy is that they now have classes for kids. It looks like a section they are still adding to (and of course, kids could take the other classes as well), but I’m always looking for fun things to add to our homeschool.
What I Don’t Like About Craftsy
I liked most of the things about the website and the program. My only issue was that they do send out quite a few emails to remind you things or to ask about upgrading. It’s easy just to delete, but it was something I didn’t care much for.
The other issue I had was that I wish there was a way to navigate which classes were for beginners and which ones were more advanced. Generally, when you look at the videos, you can probably determine the skill levels needed to do the class but I thought this might make navigation easier when you are looking for a new project.
How to Cancel Craftsy Membership?
To cancel your auto-renew membership with Craftsy, you can contact them by email at [email protected], or you can go directly to your account online and cancel there. You will continue to have access to Craftsy through the remainder of your current term.
If you are not completely happy with the membership within the first 30 days of your paid Annual Membership, they will refund 100% of your membership fee, no questions asked.
Craftsy Membership Sharing
One of the cool things I discovered while learning more about Craftsy is that they offer membership sharing.
This means an active, paying member can share their account with up to 3 friends or family members who can all set up their own personal accounts. All the paying member needs to do is to log into their account and share an email invite with their friends.
Is It Worth Joining Craftsy?
If you have a little time and want to learn new skills with highly trained professionals, Craftsy is a great way to do that from the comfort of your own home.
One of the main things I enjoy about having a membership is that you can take so many wonderful classes no matter where you live. That’s a huge perk for someone like me that lives so far from a town that would have classes.
Sounds like something that’s for you?
Merissa has been blogging about and living the simple life since 2009 and has internationally published 2 books on the topic. You can read about Merissa’s journey from penniless to the 100-acre farm and ministry on the About Page. You can send her a message any time from the Contact Page.
Thanks for the heads up on Craftsy! I’ve always wanted to try it and how can you beat that price? Have a great weekend!
Sally
I know, right? I know I won’t use it much until winter comes again but I’m so excited to dig into some of the classes!
Forgot to mention. I might try crafty now that I am retired and have time. Thank you for the info.
You’re welcome! I hope you find some fun things to make.
