Easy Dressing Recipe
This recipe is from several years ago when I first started blogging, but it’s still a favorite. Enjoy!
I thought I’d share my recipe for homemade salad dressing with you today. I love this stuff. The recipe is a little vague, but I adjust it according to how I want it to taste. If you need to make an easy dressing recipe in a hurry, this is a great one because all of the ingredients are easily accessible!

Update to the recipe:
As I mentioned above…it’s been several years since I posted this recipe originally here on Little House Living; it was 2009, in fact! The only difference in how I made it then compared to how we make it now is that I use regular extra virgin olive oil for the oil in the recipe. I generally do about 2/3 cup of oil and 1/3 cup of vinegar (and I use raw apple cider vinegar) since I like a little zip to my dressing!
Olive Oil is a great way to get healthy fats into your diet, especially when it’s left unheated. Since we’ve been trying to do this more and have been eating quite a bit of salad, I love using good quality extra virgin olive oil in my homemade dressings.
Common Questions About Making Homemade Salad Dressing
Since this recipe is basically oil and vinegar, it will last a very long time if stored in a cool, dry place. After several years, the oil will begin to get rancid if it has been exposed to light and air, but you should be able to use it up before then. For a full list of details on how to make salad dressings last longer check out this post.
Sure! It’s fun to try out different flavors, too, so that you can make something different with the same basic 4 ingredients.
Generally speaking, a vinegar/oil-based dressing is going to be your healthiest bet over cream-based dressings. Of course, it all depends on your definition of healthy and what you need to add to or eliminate from your diet.

You comment that your dehydrator is running all the time. What are you all drying? I am relatively new to this and am having some problems grasping how much to be storing, how much to store. What do you dry? Thanks
Our favorite is drying fruits for snacks! I’m not much of a plain fruit eater but I will eat just about any fruit dried, I think it’s the texture or something! So that’s the most of it:)
Great recipe! I don’t usually go through the effort of measuring or mixing together the ingredients. I keep a bottle of olive oil and a bottle of pomegranite infused red wine vinegar on the shelf. I just add a little olive oil directly to my salad, then sprinkle the red wine vinegar over it, to taste. Sometime I will grind a little sea salt and black pepper on top.
Coul…….could you please please please see that the bars on the left of your pages are not popping up all the time? They cover the left sides of anything here! Thank you.

That sounds really nice, although being a serious garlic lover, I would probably blend and add some garlic(or crush it and let it sit at the bottom, and eat later!) and some oregano.
Fanx for all your delightful recipes and advice! Stay well.
Well I followed it to a T. It was horrible. Even tried adding a bit of raw sugar. Still horrible..Don’t get it.
