I used to have a set amount each month for groceries but in the last few months I’ve kind of wandered away from the budget which has resulted in me spending more than I need to. Me and my husband went over bills and budgets yesterday and I decided I wanted to go back to having a set budget each month again for food. Something like a challenge to see if I can do it. Since there is only 2 of us I’ve settled on $100 per 4 weeks, or $25 a week. Just to keep myself accountable I’ll be posting my shopping list for the week on Wednesdays or Thursdays to amke sure I can stay within the budget and maybe even have some to spare! I’m going to be doing the cash method so I have all the money I can spend in my hand and I can’t be tempted to spend more(well I really can’t be since I still have no credit/debit cards since my identity theft a few months ago)
I’m looking forward to the challenge. I’ve been a little lax on my couponing lately, probably mostly because I just don’t buy much in the summer with having a garden. Hopefuly I can get enough preserved this fall to help out with my budget plan.
I’m interested in knowing how you budget or how you don’t budget your grocery money. Do you have a set amount each week or each month? How much do you think a person needs each month for groceries? Post your answers in the comments or shoot me an email. I’d love to make a post with your answers to get a feel how others are taking control(or not taking control) of their grocery bills.
