Where we live, gardening is a one time a year event. The weather doesn’t cooperate for it to be done more than that. Therefore….it is one of my favorite times each year. I look forward to spring and the start of the gardening season.
Several years ago, I started my seeds indoors. This was a big step, versus just going to the local garden center to load up on plants. I found that by starting my own seedlings, I could save a lot of money and also, have the quality of selection that I wanted. It is important to me to find quality, non-GMO, non-hybrid seeds.
Mary’s Heirloom Seeds does just that. They provide quality, non-GMO, non-hybrid seeds to small, everyday gardeners…like myself. Their website, has a wonderful selection of seeds and other items. It offers variety packs and kits of different seeds, depending on your need.
They, generously, offered me a selection of several seeds, of my choice. I choose Golden Marconi Pepper, Tam Jalapeno Pepper, Red Fig Tomato, Amanas Orange Tomato, Atomic Red Carrots, and Slo Bolt Cilantro. A couple of these won’t be able to be started ahead of time, they are sown directly in the garden. The tomatoes and peppers, however, I started indoors, with my other early seeds.
We went through the typical process of filling containers, planting the small seeds, and daily watering. These seeds germinated in record time. I generally plant 2 seeds per container, just in case. As you can see from the pictures, they have a wonderful germination percentage. I am anxious to let these seedlings grow for another 4 weeks indoors and then they will be transplanted outdoors. Looks like I am in for a full harvest!!
The packets contain a good amount of seeds and also supply plenty of instructions on them.
Another plus for website ordering, is the free shipping offer. These seeds are quality and affordable. The selection is very good and there is plenty of information available from the website.
