Do you have a favorite essential oil? Mine is definitely this one! Keep reading for my favorite Orange Oil uses.

Orange Oil Uses

You already know that I love using essential oils around our home and in certain beauty products. I appreciate their multipurpose functions and today I’m sharing some of my favorites uses with one of my favorite oils…sweet Orange Oil.

Sweet Orange Oil is different than the other citrus essential oils. It’s generally not considered phototoxic, so it can be used in beauty and skin products as long as you aren’t allergic. (Always test a small, diluted amount of essential oil on skin before using in a product.) Sometimes after you buy an essential oil you might use it once or twice and then wonder what to do with the rest of the bottle…those little bottles can go a long way! Here are some of my favorite Orange Oil uses.

I love putting Sweet Orange Essential Oil in many of my homemade cleaning products just because it smells so good, and because it has bactericidal properties. I personally love adding it to make simple Homemade Furniture Polish.

Since Sweet Orange Oil has a very uplifting scent, it can be added to homemade candles (like homemade Beeswax Candles) to make a sweet smelling, happy candle!

Sweet Orange Oil can be added into skin and beauty products so one fun thing to make with it is a homemade Sugar Scrub. Perfect little gift for someone that needs a pick me up!

Sweet Orange Oil can be great for cleaning tile (as is Lemon Essential Oil). Place a few drops on a wet rag, scrub onto tile stains and spots until clean.

Because Sweet Orange Oil has a scent that reminds you of clean, place a few drops in the bottom of your trash can to keep it smelling fresh and clean.

Add a few drops of Sweet Orange Essential Oil to your shampoo to energize your morning wash routine. Some friends that have tried this have also let me know that they have noticed smoother hair from doing this!

If you are looking for a wonderful source for oils, I highly recommend Rocky Mountain Oils. After careful consideration of all the companies selling essential oils, I’m happy to share that Rocky Mountain Oils has become my main source of oils for many different reasons.

  1. I use sweet orange EO in handmade soap. It dissolves fish, onion and other kitchen odors quickly. I grind orange peel and clove to give the soap a little more scrubbing power. I hadn’t thought to add it to candles. I do use it on a disperser hanging in a sunny window though, and it makes my house smell wonderful.

  2. I like to diffuse sweet orange and spearmint together. It’s my favorite combo. (4 drops orange and 2 drops department)

  3. I love to mix orange and peppermint in a roller bottle with coconut oil and put it on as a pick me up in the morning. My 10 year old has a really difficult time waking up in the mornings and this combo helps him get energized and ready for the day! Love cleaning with it! My friend puts it in frosting for an orange flavor and thats delicious too 🙂

  4. I love orange oil, it instantly brightens your mood. Stopping by from the Friendship Friday hop, come say hi!

  5. I love orange oil just for a little pick-me-up. Thanks for linking up with Thursday Favorite Things.

  6. Hi Merissa:
I’ve been following your blog for quite a while now & I love it. I never miss a post. I was reading your post on Orange Essential Oil. I have been wanting to try essential oils for quite a while now but I don’t know where to begin. I have looked at quite a few companies, some which charge anywhere from $70 to $90 dollars for 0.5 ounces of Frankincense (one I really want) I nearly chocked when I saw those prices, to $5 to $13 dollars a bottle. How do I know if the cheaper ones are pure therapeutic grade oils or knockoffs? Hoping you can help? Thank you & God bless.

    1. It’s important to remember that therapeutic grade is not a regulated grade system so it’s something that can’t really be trusted. When I buy oils I look into the company and their background before I buy. You could even call if you have questions on something. Personally we get most of our oils from Mountain Rose Herbs. Most are certified organic and much less expensive than some of the more mainstream brands. I just checked and it looks like their frankincense oil is $20.50 for .5 ounces.

  7. Neat! I like diffusing it for it’s uplifting scent, but I had no idea about it being good for hair. Thanks!
