Here is a list of my favorite books that have to deal with self sufficiency. I think it’s a good idea to have a good library on hand with books that you can reference in case you ever need them.
Just in Case. This book is excellent. Seriously. If you liked this series than I know you will love this book. It’s filled with ideas on how to be prepared for things that may happen. It gives scenarios and tells you how to prepare for different threats which is good since we are all in different areas and have different things to prepare for. This book is simple to use.
Back to Basics. Detailed doesn’t even begin to describe this book. It’s filled with recipes, crafts, projects, and so much more. There is really so much info in this book!
The Encyclopedia of Country Living. Everyone that lives in the country, near the country, or is working their way to being self sufficient, should have this book. It talks all about animals, gardens, and much more.
Make A Mix. I really love this cookbook and I use it all the time. It has so many mixes in it that are great for easy food storage. I like to not only have things to eat, I like to have it ready! With the mixes in this book you can make everything from soups to desserts and have them ready to go.
Homesteading DVDS. If you are someone that learns better by watching then you should check out these Homesteading DVDs put our by my friends the Harrison family. These are a good resource for beginners looking to live off the land. They start out very simple, how to grow a garden, ect. And then move to more things such as making your own sour cream, butchering and canning meat, and more. I previously reviewed these DVDs HERE.
