Tattler Canning Lids: A Review and a Giveaway!

I recently met someone new that had heard of me and my website before we’d met. One of the first things they said to me was, “Oh yeah, you are one of those natural living, gardening, canning people.” Proudly I replied, “Why YES I am!”

I’m a canner and I’m proud of it. I’m happy to be able to put up food that I grow and that I can pay less for so my family can eat healthy all of the time.

I love most things related to canning but the one thing that is difficult to handle each year is the growing cost of lids. As all canners know, you can’t reuse the lids that seal your jars so you have to continually buy more and more each year. And as much as I’ve looked, I still can’t find a good deal on canning lids or canning lids in bulk.

But for the last few years, one way I’ve been saving on canning lids is beginning to stock up on Tattler Canning Lids. Tattler lids are reusable canning lids! They come in 2 parts, the BPA free plastic lid and the rubber seal that you place on the bottom of the lid to help seal it to the jar and protect your food.

Tattler lids will last for years and years when they are properly taken care of. They may be a little more upfront cost but in the long run you will be able to save money instead of having to buy lids over and over!

The only difference with Tattler lids and how you use them is when you tighten the lids after you process so if you do end up going with Tattler lids, make sure to read through all of the instructions first. But once you get the hang of it, it will be second nature!

LPC Survival would like to give one Little House Living reader a case of Tattler Canning Lids in your choice of wide or regular mouth. That’s 24 dozen lids! Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below to enter the giveaway.

  1. Exciting! I love these lids and am keeping my fingers crossed that I win them! I will share with my dear friend who is also in to canning. 🙂

  2. I’ve canned salsa a few times in my past but I’ve finally have a house where I can grow my own food and beginning to start canning again. This time I’ve canned jellies and jams. My husband loves it so much he gifted me a couple of cases of mason jars. Hoping to start canning other types of food. I was given a pressure cooker so hopefully I’ll be able to can some soups soon. Thanks for the information you’ve posted. It’s encouraging me to learn more.

  3. I would so love to win these! I am just starting out with canning and disaster preparedness so right now I have next to nothing currently!

  4. I would love to win the canning lids as I am knew to canning and have not been able to stock pile lids so that I’ll be able to can even more food! The wide mouth lids would be the best.

  5. I am getting married soon & will have several more children to care for. Needless to say I’m going to be doing a lot more canning & these would be an awesome blessing for us.

  6. I would LOVE to win these so I can start canning all my spring summer vegetables we plan on planting in our new huge backyard!!

  7. I love canning and storing food in *mason* jars–they’re safe and easy to clean 🙂 I remember the shelves of jars in our basement–we’d put up at least 200 quarts of assorted veggies (and some deer meat) every year. I’m on a much smaller scale these days, but I still love seeing the results of my garden.

  8. Oh, this would be wonderful! I’ve been longing for these, but just haven’t been able to budget enough for the up-front buy-in!

I use wide-mouth for most things, but of course jams and such are regular. What a tough choice! 🙂

  9. These have been on my wish list for awhile, haven’t found them locally yet. Of course winning them would be superb!

  10. I just got some Tattler lids about 2 months ago!! Canning season was over for me already but I have them to use in the future. I only got two boxes so I sure could use some more.

I am a “prepper” in terms of I would love to be able to be fully self reliant. If ever a time comes when the economy collapses and the world as we know it, ends, there won’t be the ability to run to the closest store and pick up more canning lids. But since I am a new canner, and am canning more things every year, it is important for me to be able to be self reliant in that regard, too.

As a result, these re-usable canning lids are the perfect solution!

  11. I have been canning since my sons were very little and they are all grown men with their own families now. I still can but now I share it with their families. I could really, really use “reuseable” lids! Had never heard of these before but I’d love to try them out.

  12. I’d like to win the Regular ones for my wife. The pickles and such are good, but it’s the jam I like best! 😉

  13. I’ve been wanting to try these. I hope someday to be able to afford some or win some to try out. They look great!!

  14. I have 3 dozen and absolutely love them! I have never had an issue with them not sealing. I would love to add to my stash. 🙂

  15. Oh this would be wonderful! Thank you for arranging this giveaway, plus thanks to the LPS survival folks for offering up a prize. Living here in the PNW (storm/earthquake/volcano country) it is important to be prepared. And this will help me out with my canning immensely!

  16. I usually can over 400 jars of fruit, Jellies & veggies from our garden every summer. I could REALLY use these lids. I have plenty of jars that I have either bought or have been given to me by family & friends who have decided not to can any more. Each year I dread buying the can taps, they are expensive when you can as much as I do.

  17. Yes!!! this would be so wonderful. I so could use them. I bought some last summer and I love them. Best of luck to all who enter.

  18. With my job status, last year I began gardening, canning & other self-sufficient living solutions. I was so excited to try these but unfortunatley the price tag was too hefty. I love canning & preserving. I went a lil ocd and made 2-3 extra cases of jelly & jams this year.

Thank you for all the great information you and others have provided.

  19. I just started canning ‘seriously’ 2 years ago but have never tried the Tattler brand lids yet. This would be a great opportunity for me to try them!

  20. I would love a set of these lids! Canning supplies are often hard to find where I live and it would be wonderful not to have to worry about finding canning lids each year! Thanks for the great giveaway!!

  21. I could really REALLY use these! They’re expensive, but they’re totally worth it for the sake of my two year old and 4 month old’s health with them being BPA-free. Hopefully, the government will BAN BPA soon!!

  22. Chuckling. Last night, when I couldn’t sleep, I was lying in bed thinking about Tattler canning lids, wondering if I should have bought some when they were on sale a while back. A win would be nice, too. Thanks for hosting the giveaway. 🙂

  23. I LOVE Tattler lids! I thought they would be hard to use, not so. Just as easy as regular lids and they are reusable! Love them.

  24. would enjoy winning a case of these, although I’m 57,I have been canning for a few years and look forward to next season so I can start again

  25. You are right..those metal lids & rings are getting so expensive! And, I don’t like the metal taste that they leave in some things! These would be so great to have. I have never tried them, although I know about them. And, yes, this would be enough to last for a very long time! Hope I win!

  26. I would so love to win these! I am just starting out with canning and disaster preparedness so right now I have next to nothing currently!

  27. We LOVE Tattler lids. We bought just enough to try the out this year and love that they are BPA free. What a great giveaway!

  28. Wow, what a great giveaway! I make so much jelly from my own fruit trees & shrubs & believe these would save me so much money! Thank you!

  29. I have been using these for a couple years. The last time I bought some I went with a group of people and we did a huge bulk buy. So worth it. These are great for things that like to eat through metal, like tomatoes. There is a learning curve, but they are worth it.

  30. wow i have been wanting these for a long time we live in a 26 ft. trailer so this would help with space and money love this

  31. I first heard of these Tattler reusable lids this year, about a week after I finished my summer canning. I would love to try them, but haven’t been able to find them locally. Thank you for giving us the chance to win these. What a fantastic prize!

  32. I’m just getting into canning after only canning one batch of green beans over 15 years ago and I needs LOTS of canning supplies. This would be a wonderful way to get back into canning and keep going. I sure hope I win, I would be ecstatic if I won this contest! 🙂

  33. I would be interested in trying these out. I have only used Ball jar lids in the past but like the fact these are more reusable

  34. I use both regular and wide mouth, it depends what I’m canning. I use regular for everything except pickles and hot peppers, I use wide lids for those! Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  35. Some people like them and some don’t. I haven’t tried them yet, but I’m stingy enough to make them work LOL… I think I’ll enter!

  36. Very cool! I’d never heard of these lids before. Will have to look for them. The only time I got lucky on canning lids was once about 10 or 12 years ago, when a drug store in the next town over was going out of business. I just about bought out all the lids they had — they were something like 50 cents a box. Boy I was sad when that stash ran out.

  37. what a fantastic giveaway. I have been canning since the 1970’s and buy lids all through the winter months so it wouldn’t be as painful to do it all at once at the beginning of the canning season in spring. These lids seem to be a great solution to constantly purchasing lids. Do they hold their seal well?

  38. I am looking forward to trying these. I wonder if they work for sealing dried foods with a Foodsaver jar lid attachment.

  39. Yay! I’ve been thinking of these lids since the last time you wrote about them. What a great giveaway!

  40. What a super duper awesome giveaway… Wow!! I have a few dozen of each size right now but I’d love to have a case of them.. So far, I love them. This is my first season to use them, but they’ve worked great for me. Only had one or two fails.. not bad considering as much as I’ve canned this year.
    Thanks for the opportunity!

  41. I would love to win this! I had a good stash of regular lids, but ran through them pretty quick this summer. This would be a great addition to my pantry! Thanks for the opportunity.

  42. Thank you for sharing! I’m just starting to can again, and would love to not have to buy so many one use seals and rings.

  43. Wow. That’s a lot of entries! But I’ll enter too, please! New to canning, but as you say, every little bit saved helps.
