– 2 Cups flour – 2/3 Cup COLD grated butter (or diced very small) – 1/2 tsp salt – 8 Tbsp cold water – 2-4 Granny Smith apples (diced small) – 1/2 Cup sugar – 1.5 tsp cinnamon – 4 Tbsp butter (cut into small pieces) – 4 Tbsp flour – 1 egg – 1 Tbsp water – cinnamon/sugar (for sprinkling on top) – 1/2 Cup powdered sugar – 1/2 tsp vanilla extract – milk (to thin icing to proper consistency for drizzling)
Add in the butter, and stir gently with a pastry blender or a fork. Add water a tablespoon at a time, fluffing the flour/water with a fork to combine after each addition.
