A few weeks ago I looked under my sink and realized I didn’t have any new shower curtain liners and the one in the shower was getting bad. In the past I’ve gotten them from Walmart or Target but they usually cost around $3-$4 each. So I decided I would check at the Dollar Store when I went to town next.
I got to the Dollar Store and they only had liners that were funny colors and with no magnets on the bottom. But I dug a little deeper and I found a whole bunch of clear vinyl liners with magnets. So I grabbed two and paid for them and brought them home.
When I got home I took down the yucky old shower curtain and put up the new one. Right away I noticed it was about 3-4 inches shorter than the old one. It still made it past the tub so it sat inside of the tub so the water wouldn’t come out but for a few minutes I looked at it an was annoyed by this little thing.
The next morning I was thinking about it some more. There was nothing wrong with that shower curtain. It worked fine, kept water inside in the tub, and it was cheaper. The only thing that was wrong with it was that I had it in my head that the more expensive shower curtain was so much better even though they did the same thing and they worked the same.
So then I thought about it this way, I buy about one new shower liner every 2 months. Our water is hard and full of minerals so they get bad pretty quickly. So If I buy them at Target or Walmart that would cost me about $21 a year(figuring 3.50 a liner). If I buy the Dollar Store liners ever 2 months that would cost me $6 a year. A difference of $15 a year. Maybe this doesn’t sound like alot to some but here are some deal pictures I’ve taken. All that’s in these pictures add up to $15.05 that I spent total. (Not for each picture, for everything in all the pictures combined)
