Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe


  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk


  1. Picture of the ingredients. For reference, I use turbinado sugar and buttermilk powder in this recipe. You can use any sugar and fresh buttermilk.
  2. Mix together the dry ingredients.
  3. Add in the butter and the buttermilk. Mix well.
  4. Knead a few times until you have a nice dough.
  5. Flatten the dough out with your fingers. It should be about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to make the biscuit shapes. I don't have a biscuit cutter so I just use a glass. You should be able to get 9 biscuits out of this recipe.
  7. Place them on a baking sheet at bake at 350F for about 10 minutes until brown on top.
  8. Serve with butter or jam. Yum!
