Old Fashioned Caramel Icing
How to make your own caramel icing.
Brown or Raw Sugar
Homemade Powdered Sugar
n a saucepan, heat the butter and brown sugar together until boiling. Boil while stirring for 2 minutes. Add in the milk and stir until almost boiling.
Remove the mixture from heat and cool for a few minutes, add in the powdered sugar with a whisk and mix until incorporated.
Place in a mixer or using electric hand mixers, whip the icing until light and fluffy. You can use this to frost immediately after whipping.
This recipe makes enough to cover a 9x13 cake, 2 dozen cupcakes, or one whole pan of Zucchini Brownies (plus some to spare), it's very sweet like many treats so enjoy in moderation!
