Baking Powder Biscuit Recipe

Shortening or Butter

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder until well blended.

Using a fork, cut in the shortening or cold butter until the mixture resembles cornmeal.

Add the milk into the bowl and mix with the fork only enough times to incorporate it into the dough.

Pour the dough onto a clean surface and knead the dough no more than 10 times.

Flatten out the dough until about 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass to form the biscuits.

Place on an un-greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes or until biscuits are slightly brown.
