Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Milk
  • 3 Eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2/3 cup Oats
  • 1 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Molasses
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 2/3 cup Raisins

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, eggs, and butter. It helps if the butter is softened. You can use a butter alternative if needed.
  2. Add in the vanilla and molasses and mix well.
  3. Then add in the remaining ingredients. You can leave the raisins out if your family doesn't like them but this pie makes them really moist and yummy so we like them.
  4. Pour the pie into a prepared crust or a homemade crust. Our favorite pie crust recipe is this Butter Crust. You can also use gluten free flour in it and replace the butter with lard or tallow for dairy free.
  5. The pie filling will work best in a deep dish pie crust. If you don't have this, you will have a little leftover pie filling.
  6. Bake the pie at 425 degrees F for 10 minutes and then at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until the center seems set. Allow the pie to cool completely. I let mine sit on the counter until I can handle it and then we put it in the fridge for several hours before serving.

  7. This pie is so good warm or cold! It would be excellent with a dollop of Homemade Whipped Cream on the top.
