Get out all your ingredients before you start. Make sure that all of your jars are clean and completely dry.
-
In a large bowl, combine the rice with all the other ingredients and mix until everything is combined.
-
Using a funnel, pour 2 cups of the mixture into the pint jars or 1 cup of the mixture into each jelly jar. Pint-size jars with 2 cups of the mix will make enough of this side dish for a family of 4 to 6. The jelly size jars will make enough to serve 2 or 3. Use whichever size jar will work for your family. As you can see from the pictures, I use the pint jars.
-
Label the jars and store them in your pantry. If you aren't going to use them within the next 3 months, you may want to consider vacuum sealing them to help them last longer.
-
When you are ready to make your Herbed Rice, pour the contents of 1 pint jar into a large saucepan or dutch oven with 4 cups of vegetable or chicken broth and 2 tablespoons of butter or butter substitute. Cover and let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes. Fluff with a fork when done.

For a jelly size jar of the mix, combine with 2 cups of vegetable or chicken broth and 1 tablespoon of butter or butter substitute. Follow the cooking directions above.
