Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups All Purpose or Bread Flour
  • 4 tablespoons Butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons Yeast
  • 1 large Egg
  • 4 tablespoons Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Start by making your dough. Bloom the yeast first (mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar) and set aside. Add all the other ingredients to a large bowl before adding the yeast in. Mix together until everything is well incorporated. The dough make feel sticky and that's ok. Set it in a bowl with a cover and let it rest and rise for at least an hour.

  2. After the rise time, remove the dough from the bowl and place on a floured surface. Separate into 12 pieces using a dough cutter or your hands. The dough is somewhat sticky and you'll have to use a little flour to handle it.
  3. Roll out each ball with a rolling pin. You may need more flour to keep it from sticking.
  4. Heat up your griddle or frying pan. You shouldn't need any oil on a well-seasoned cast iron. Place the flat dough on the pan like you would a tortilla. It should immediately bubble. Leave on the original side for about 30 seconds.
  5. Flip the naan and leave it for an additional 15-30 seconds.
  6. Remove the naan from heat and place on a plate. Continue all the steps with the next piece until all the bread is cooked. Enjoy warm or room temp!
