Way back in the day (15 years ago!) I used to have a post on here about how I created a Price Book to keep track of the best deals at the grocery store. At some point I must have decided that it was in such need of updating that I deleted the post with an intention of starting over and never did! Now I’m finally getting this post back up for you. I hope this will help you save as much as you can on groceries!

Price Book

What Is a Price Book?

A Price Book is a tool that you can use to track current pricing on groceries that you buy at the store in order to find the best deal. You can use a simple pen and paper or a spreadsheet.

A Look at My Price Book and How I Use It

Here’s a short video I put together for you to look at my price book with details on how I made it and how I use it.

How to Make a Price Book

  1. Make a list of all of the items you typically buy at the grocery store. You can dig through your pantry to figure this out.
  2. Add a list of stores that you typically shop at.
  3. Add in the prices per pound or per ounce of each item on your list from each store. You can do this by searching their website or by going into the store and writing things down.
  4. Highlight the best prices on the list so you can easily see them when you are searching.
  5. Update your Price Book often as pricing can change often.

How a Price Book Saves Money

A Price Book is an easy way for you to figure out what the lowest prices are so that when you need to add an item to your grocery list, you know where to buy it at.

It can also help you determine if a sale is really a sale or not by comparing a sale price to the prices you have in your book.

Can I Get a Copy of Your Price Book?
