  27. I want to continue to simplify my family’s life in this new year. I have been sensing from the LORD to further simplify our lives.

  28. This goal resonates . . . it’s one that I’ve been trying to shape for 2026, but haven’t gotten fully sorted out yet to fit my life currently. I’ll never be a homesteader in the sense that I’ll own and work land; I’m 78+, but I’m trying to do the things I can in a rental house. Developing consistent habits is a big challenge for me and one that I would like to focus on this coming year. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge; there’s always something to learn if I keep my mind open.

  29. My new years goal is to slow down and savor the small moments with my kids. After some pretty big medical things this year, I was reminded how important the time spent with them is, how I have often neglected that, and how these memories will last and be cherished forever.

  36. For the family I want to better my garden results, use the food grown without waste by canning, and prep meals ahead with what is on hand. For myself I want to declutter not just space but also time being wasted (cell phone, sleeping in, driving without a plan), people that are not actively in our lives (I am a shoulder people cry on. They come out of the blue to relieve their drama and I haven’t spoke with them in months to years beforehand.) I want to communicate better. Short but empathetic with most.

  37. I’m really hoping this year to get my garage and family room cleaned out. We moved here 3 years ago and between the move itself and my now late husband’s health issues, things were just shoved wherever at the time. I’m slowly getting past losing hubby. Add in a few other issues, and things aren’t getting done that need to.
In the gardens here, I’m hoping we can get lots of veggies growing in our raised beds and maybe expand the flower/pollinator beds in the fall.

  38. I would love to have a copy of your book. This year I am cutting back and decluttering. I have actually already started and have given away so many things. We are going to be doing the pantry challenge for the next few months.

  49. In 2026 I want to eliminate all paper products with renewable green products. That includes paper towels and toilet paper and physical calendars and notes. Cooking with ingredients found at home and herbs made are on the top of my list. Reuseable water bottles are now being utilized. Waste not want nit is a new motto for me. I’ve purchased re usable bags for snacks too. I plan to keep an electronic list of replacements that I plan on using. I would love one of your books for more ideas!

  110. My goal for 2026 is to slow down and enjoy each day. I retired in 2021 after working 45 years and have volunteered at 3 organizations the last 4 years…too busy and no time to enjoy family and the hobbies I love. 2026 is a new year and new mindset. Life passes by too quickly. I love reading your emails and all the great hints you provide us. Keep up the great work. It is so appreciated.

  111. You’re an inspiration to me, Merissa! My goal for this year is to do a whole house massive declutter and organizational overhaul. Clutter has robbed us of too much of our peace and joy last year…this year we won’t let the chaos rule anymore! 😊

I’ve already made the toothpaste and I love it! Thank you!

  119. I’ve been following you and been so inspired by you since living in your rv. I think you were the first person to make me think about slowing down and actually living life. So thank you for all you do. Oh and I would absolutely love to win your book.

  120. I’m just hoping to survive. We started the year with my 54-yr-old brother passing away from a severe heart attack yesterday. It’s okay if my only goal is to get thru each day because I’ll be happy that I am here on this earth to do it.

  121. I plan to retire and move in the next couple years. Definitely time to work on decluttering and downsizing.

  122. I declutter all through the year, so my 2026 goals are a couple of very specific things! Learning to actually sew some, and planting, harvesting and using calendula!
Also drinking 2 liters of water each day…which I do that challenge fairly often, but what better time to restart again?

  123. I’m looking to make some changes to start working towards retirement. I want to move states at some point and need to start intentionally reducing my things and keeping what I need and love. Thanks for considering.

  127. I plan to do much better growing green beans and tomatoes in this year’s garden.

  128. Working on more homemade/homesteading in our life and for our family. We have 5 adult children (one with special needs who lives with my husband and I) and all of our children have a desire to be free of the ickiness of the man-made things of the world. We’re working on a little at a time to be where we want to be and your recipes and ideas have been so very helpful in our pursuits!

  129. Slow down, strip it to the essentials, and focus on what actually feeds me—soul, body, and maybe a little feral instinct.🌱

  130. Could you share your fabric source please? With Joann’s closed several of us are seeking fabric sources.

    1. I’m trying several different sources right now. I got some from Walmart which was a good price but not the best quality. I just ordered from 2 other online places and I also picked up some from Hobby Lobby. It’s so hard not to be able to feel the fabric!

  131. My goal this year is to live intentionally and to be present. I want to move where He guides me and tune out the noise.

  132. This year my goal is to slow down and seek the Lord’s will with intention. To spend my energy on the things that benefit my family, and feed my soul.

  133. We just finished building our home – complete downsize! My husband and I are partially retired so I now have time to focus on what matters. My goals are to create a new garden area and expand it and learn more about canning!

  134. I’m looking to cut back on spending by making use of or repurposing things I already own, so I can save more money.

  135. I am going to work harder at not wasting food. I buy “meaning to” try new recipes or just because it looks good and then wind up throwing away or composting more than I should. Big waste of product and money too!

  136. To declutter and simplify my life. Would love one of your books, but if the good Lord thinks I need it, I’ll be be blessed to receive one.

  137. Good morning, Merissa.
Thank you for all you do for us.
My goal is to give away most everything that I haven’t used in over a year. So far, I have been doing well with my son helping, he is not a saver, Lol. I need a little push.
My email address is: [email protected]
    Thank you.
    Paula Bridges Monette

  138. I’m hoping to have plenty of starts for the garden by planting seeds/tubers inside.

  139. Would love to declutter this year, in anticipation of a potential move into another house. My husband and I have lived in the same house for 27 years (with 2 daughters); we have acquired quite a bit of “stuff” & it needs to go!

  140. My goal for 2026 is to de clutter my storage shed and my spare bedroom that was supposed to be my home office but turned into a storage room 🙄 Wishing you a Happy and Prosperous New Year 2026.

  141. Every year I think this is the year to simplify–I really hope to make it happen this year!

  142. My goal for the new year is to downsize in as many areas of my life as can be!!

  143. My goal for 2026 is to keep working on my health and find the root cause of health issues. Blessings to your family in 2026.

  144. This year I plan to get rid of ALL my Teflon pans and cook more with cast iron.
I plan to make more from scratch items (tortillas, pasta, breads, etc).

  145. Thank you for the giveaway! 2026’s goal for our household is to try and keep the inside maintained and organized. I am a widow with three kids still in the house and I am working on training them to help and be responsible for much of this.

  146. I have been putting off organizing for 6 1/2 years. I have a room that we call our storage room, everything and anything is placed in it. Now is the time I need to organize it and get our home in order for a more restful life.

  147. I want to calm the chaos in 2026. 2025 featured 2 unexpected heart surgeries for my husband and a major job shift for him at the end of the year. During that time, I came to realize that I want to simplify our lives even more.

  148. My goal is to incorporate more read alouds in our home. Reading aloud is so beneficial but I struggle starting.

  149. I am helping others through a grant that I received from my church. With this grant, I will be teaching children how to cook and bake. By learning these skills, they can refrain from eating unhealthy foods and assist with meal planning and preparation.

  150. My goal for 2026 is to be more mindful of ingredients in my food. To buy local as much as possible and to make the majority of bread products at home.

  151. To eliminate frivolous purchases and needless (and seemingly endless) Amazon purchases for 2026.

  152. My goal is to live each day more mindful of choices in health, food and simply living.

  153. One of my goals for my son and I is to stop eating out so much, to spend more time meal planning and making delicious home-cooked meals!

  154. My main goal is to become a better steward by finding ways to save more and minimizing our items that don’t get used or used very often.

  155. My goal this year is to make more time. I’m reducing my work schedule from 4 days to 3. This is an effort to ease into retirement but more importantly so that we may have travel flexibility to spend time with aging family members.

  156. This year I’d like to focus on getting myself healthier – physically and spiritually.

  157. I would be excited to add another one of your books to my library, thank you for the opportunity and Happy New Year to you and your family!

  158. My 2026 is to simplify my house. Lol We accumulate so much excess stuff overtime & I’m ready to clean & clear out space.

  159. Decluttering the basement. We moved into this house quickly four years ago and there are boxes we haven’t touched since. I want to get rid of the stuff we don’t need or use. Then I want to use the space that the family can enjoy. Place for the kids to play or gather for family time.

  160. My desire is to declutter my sewing room. I really enjoy reading your emails. Thank you.

  161. In 2026 I want to be more self sufficient. As a senior living on social security I need to be prepared to do for myself and my husband so we can eat and live healthy affordable lives. I also think homemade is so much better than the stuff at the supermarket.

  162. I have simple goals this year. I want to make my own vinegars for the first time. I want to start sweet potato slips from last year’s sweet potato crop. And I want to try growing onions to store for the first time.

  163. I need to simplify the papers. Seems like every couple of years they need a purge. Overall decluttering as well. Simplicity wins!

  164. I have so many!

    Take time to breathe
    Quit smoking cigarettes
    Get my aromatherapy certification

  165. Dear Merissa, my goal is to joyfully embrace moving to a little house from a large family home with my husband. We are closing in on 70 and the time is here to simplify our daily to make room for the joys of life like our grandchildren. A little house will be a great first step. My email is [email protected]

  166. I just bought the ebook of simpler living. I am definitely encouraged to get started on all these organizing tips and handouts for 2026!!! Thank you so much for helping us get organized and also for living more frugal!!!!

  167. I am trying to decluter. My children don’t want my nick nacks and antiques. So I am giving away. It’s sad 😔 They are minimalist and hardly have furniture. But I want it to go to someone who will love them and not the landfill.
Thank you and God bless 💜

  168. A few years ago I bought the sewing clips. I love them. They are quick to use and no more finger pricks from needles. I think you will find them useful.

  169. I’m trying to simplify my life and get rid of stuff we no longer use. I’m getting older and struggling with all that I have to do daily.

  170. I’m not even sure which word to choose! I’ve become bogged down in most aspects of my life this past year. Perhaps ‘clarify’ then ‘restore’ are appropriate starting points!

  171. What has really been on my heart for this new year to really evaluate what is serving me and what is just being busy about nothing. I am so ready to get rid of what is pulling me down in life and embrace only what is truly worth it.

  172. We have been Homesteaders for years and have enjoyed your wonderful writing. I was thrilled to hear about your book! I know that I can always appreciate extra time. Thank you!

  173. I’m working towards learning finance, declutter/organization, and healthier cooking. Good luck everyone

  174. My girl is to downsize from our large home to a little house with joy and certainty that my husband and I are making wise choices in our later years. Blessings dear Merissa

  175. My goal for 2026 is to make more pantry mixes and make all meals from scratch instead of from a box. I already have a good start, but need more and need to label and organize.

  176. My main goal for 2026 is to slow down and be present in the moment. It’s going to be hard as we are trying to finish our homestead but it’s well overdue. I also want to learn how to crochet.
Hope you have a wonderful 2026!

  177. I am continuing to be more self-sufficient and getting rid of ‘things’ that I thought I needed or wanted to keep. I have dropped off another load of good and useful items to our local Pet thrift store. 100% of sales goes to our local pet adoption centers for food, medical, etc.
My husband loves my applesauce, and I enjoy canning year-round.

  178. I am hoping to create more meals from scratch and pay more attention to the ingredients that I use.

  179. My goal this year is to downsize, clean up and clear out anything not needed. I’m looking forward to getting my garden going again. It’s been a few years since I have been able to have a garden. We have just been too busy traveling. Time to slow down and spend some time at home.

  180. I’ve been slowly decluttering. One of my biggest issues is the items I don’t really use but are covered in good memories. Maybe your book can be helpful with that. Thank you for the opportunity to sign up for your giveaway

  181. My goals this year to be more intentional and less wasteful with my time and money.

    Thanks!

  182. One goal I have this year is to take more time and give my full attention with my grand kids when we visit them. We are full time RVers and travel this beautiful country of ours. The only state we haven’t been to is Alaska. So, another goal is to visit Alaska

  183. My goals for this year are based on the word “cultivate”. Ezekiel 36:9 says “you will be tilled and sown”. Ripping out the old and cultivating the new. For me that means new hobbies, new habits and improved relationships.

  184. Declutter, manage time better, learn skills that I have been wanting to try, exercise more consistently, and probably a few more things. I have a decent list 😄

  185. My goals for 2026 are to live in the moment, to clear clutter and be mindful. Thank you for this opportunity for betterment.

  186. A goal for 2026 I have is to intentionally connect each week with someone, either over coffee or something other than online!

  187. I want to rebuild my emergency fund and save for some home improvements. I know that simplifying my life and household is first step.

  188. I would really like to receive a copy of your book. I enjoy and utilize your book Little Hours Living…I especially like the recipes for so many mixes. Thank you.

  189. My goal for the year is to declutter. We plan on moving and need to get stuff out. We have gone thru the house several times but need to get rid of more. Big problem is a lot of the stuff is my daughter’s. She will be home in five months for the summer so she will have the summer to go thru things.

  190. I want to go deeper in the Word, under sting and memorizing more. Thank you for this opportunity to win your book. I’d love to read it!

  191. I like to choose a word of the year to set my goals. This year my word is “Simplify”. I have 3 children 4 and under, so life is getting a little complicated. I am looking for things to cut out, things to delegate out, and things to re prioritize.

  192. I plan on completing my 800hrs of education required to apply to the American Herbalist Guild (AHG) as a Registered Herbalist this year!

  193. Its been a winter of decluttering here in Maricopa AZ..if I only had 4 hands and an extra back..also been introducing new veggies in my diet ..leeks and a variety of green s… and in the garden will go Watercress and romaine for the rest of the season…would love to kick back w new a reading..Thank you

  194. My goal for 2026 is the habit of rising early and not staying up late. Ever since my husband started working from home with Covid, we have let bad sleeping habits creep in.

  195. The title of your book summarizes my goal: to not constantly racing against the clock all day, but to be present in each moment and make peace with the time I have.

  196. I very much want to start a garden this year to grow fresh vegetables for myself and my parents. I’ve always had a “brown thumb” so I am counting on your advice to help me succeed. PS: I just turned 65, so you know it is never to late to start something new.

  197. What am I doing. My girls think im getting old( i could still outrun them. Lol. So to keep them happy moved from sc mtns to north fla. Near them… So it building up bookcases/130 boxes given away, i cried. But kept some. And unloading boxes… did bring all my canning jars. Already have yr book, love it. Best wishes to yr for the new year.

  198. This year our goal is to keep building up our little farm. Bigger gardens of all kinds! Dabbling in Herbal remedies and healthier eating. Stocking my pantry, etc. Giving God the Glory for the property he has given us!

  199. My intentions are to be more present, give more of myself or experiences for gifts, as well as giving items from my home to my kids that they treasure, so they can enjoy them now and spending more time outside in nature.

  200. I lost my job just before Christmas. The loss of income is difficult, but it has allowed me to step back and consider what would be a more fulfilling future. One of my goals for 2026 is to avoid going back to the rat race and to invest in a simpler, more fulfilling life.

  201. My 2026 goal is to not let things I cannot change bother me so much. Don’t sweat the small stuff!

  202. One of my main goals will be to declutter and organize so I can have time and space to do things I enjoy.
My word for the year is Joy – doing thing that bring me joy and bringing joy to others. Also to be more joyful remembering joy is not about circumstances but about my attitude.

  203. My 2026 goal is to learn to bake more from scratch. I’m starting with trying to perfect a sandwich bread loaf!

  204. My 2036 goal is to (slowly, can’t happen overnight) become more of an early morning riser so I can accomplish my daily tasks (plus exercise) and errands early on so I can relax and plan, slowly rocking in the hammock under the pergola on our new deck. Tidy house, tidy garden. Clean kitchen, fresh veggies from the garden. Aaaahhhh….

  205. I am looking to create more things in the kitchen from my garden (salsas, jellies, jams, etc) and crafts (wreaths, resin, ornaments, etc) to sell along with my chicken and duck eggs. I want do more homesteading at home, so we have less outside noise.

  206. I’m excited about our goal to finish our home in 2026. It’s been 2 years in the making. My husband building everything with his own two hands. We survived camper life for 2 1/2 years before finally being able to “camp” in the house as we build. Enjoy following your off grid homesteading journey.

  207. I am wanting to live with improved intentions of slowing down. Making more meals from scratch, being creative and using what I have on hand. Incorporating things I have learned over the years. My ultimate goal is to enjoy more peace in an improved, intentional life. I know I can’t do it ALL, but I am doing my best to do more!
    My e-mail is: [email protected]

  208. I want to get some meals put away for crazy days. I’m getting settled into our new home after moving from FL to the Pocono Mountains. I’m experienced with winter weather but in my new little corner of the world here, getting to a store is a bit of a challenge when we get ice storms like last week. I want to have plenty of stuff on hand so I can easily feed my family without a second thought.

  209. I would love your book! I want to make more products for myself, my husband and for around the house. I just ordered the sewing clips you referred to. I watched a YouTube video and they were using those little clips and I said I wanted some. Thanks for the link to get them.

  210. I would absolutely love to read your book . I have been doing just that. Slowing down unfortunately not by my choice ( at first) but it has been good for me. So I’d say my 2026 goal is to keep decludering and working on myself. And keep remembering one day at a time , keep breathing, and always look forward!

  211. I would love to be one ofthe lucky winners of your book!! My word to carry me through the new year is INTENTIONAL … I want to live with Intention!!

  215. One goal I have this year is to hike 365 miles or more in a year! I’m 67 years old and love to hike!

  216. I would really like to have my own mini farm some day. That would have to be soon as I’m not a spring chicken anymore…lol At least if I had money, I could pay someone to help me run it!

  217. My goal this year is to organize my home. I have had health issues the last few years and have let my chores go by the wayside. I have kept up with the have-to’s mostly, but I need to organize what hasn’t been kept up with. Thank you for the offer your free book. I’m sure it would really be a big help for me!
