So my birthday was this week….and I feel old. What’s new? I got several nice gifts from my hubby and family but I wanted to show you my favorite gift which is pictured above. My little brother worked all day on my birthday (it was 109F degrees outside!) to make that bird house for me and proudly presented it to me when I saw him that day telling me I better go put it on my fence post. 🙂
So I got to take a nice drive in the Black Hills on my birthday and we stopped at some tiny little antique shops. In one of them up in Keystone I found this little gem. Doesn’t look like much does it?
Open up the front cover (which actually isn’t connected anymore, anyone know how to re-bind a book?) Buckeye Cookery and Practical Housekeeping. Love it! The housewife that used to own this book also pasted a few more recipes inside the covers. I found a date on the back of one of them…1889!
Um, love this!
This was in the back cover of the book and gave us a good laugh. It says, ” For cold in the head nothing is better than powdered borax snuffed up the nostrils.” Yep, that outta clear up your head….
Thanks for all the birthday wishes that my wonderful readers posted and emailed to me!
