What We Did This Week: Frugal Friday

I didn’t take many pics this week so I thought it would be fun today to do a cross between what we did and the old Frugal Friday posts I used to do. Enjoy!

Meals We Ate
We mostly follow the weekly meal plans I send out on Sundays with a few adjustments based on what I personally have on hand. You can find this week’s full meal plan here.
I’ve been warming up more breakfasts on the wood stove, like the muffins you can see above, which we had this week. It works well!

Projects We Worked On
Someone in a nearby town was cutting down some big trees and posted them for free firewood. We happily loaded up a trailerful for firewood and other projects.
We didn’t get as many other projects done this week because of the snow we had early on in the week. We did do a few small things, though, like test out the new paint color I got for the main living area of the house. I’m hoping to get some tulips planted this weekend while it’s nicer, and we will keep working on prepping for winter.

Shopping I Did
The only thing I bought this week was this pretty valance for my kitchen curtain. Our taxes and registration are due this month, so money is tight.
Also, since we got several inches of snow, we stayed home for most of the week since it was so wet and muddy.

Blog Posts I Wrote
- 4 Fall Mixes to Stock Your Pantry – These are yummy, fall-themed mixes to fill your pantry right now. I even made cute printable jar labels to go with them!
- Homemade Caramel Sauce – I updated this blog post recipe since it’s always popular this time of year! This only needs 3 ingredients, it’s so easy.
- Fall Cleaning Tips and Checklist – After working on my own fall cleaning last week, I updated this post. It also has a free printable cleaning checklist!
I’ve been posting quite a few recipes and posts lately on my Instagram channel so be sure to follow me there as well. We will have a video on our YouTube channel tomorrow (all about of root cellar re-build!) and I’ll send you another meal plan this weekend so be sure and be signed up for my emails!

I love these projects you did and all the great information and meal plan. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂
Love your blog especially the make it yourself seasonings (i.e. dried onion soup mix).
Hi, I really like these pre made mixes. What size jars do you recommend for most?
It depends on the recipe. For most single mixes I use quart jars. If it’s a bulk type of mix, I use a half gallon or a gallon glass jar. I’ve started to save some jars too like pickle jars and use those too!
