“Well, first I always read your blog 🙂
I always try to make a shopping list. Organize coupons. When possible match store q w/manufact q. Look at store flyer’s and match deals w/q. Eat before I go shopping. Try not to take kids w/me shopping. Try to have a set amount of money “budget” for the shopping trip. Try not to impulse buy. If I like something that I don’t really need, I put it back on the shelf and I’ll go back to it later and then ask myself if I really need it or not. I guess it’s just common sense. I like to stock pile when sales are good. It makes me feel better to know I have stuff on hand.”
Lots of good ideas here! A few things I haven’t talked about yet….
Try and set a budget amount for the shopping trip.
This is a great tip and something I plan on starting to do after March. I’ve read several other places online where couponers will say they can use $5 per store(past Register Rewards/gift cards) I think this is an excellent idea. As couponers we have a tendency to overspend when we find an item for really cheap, even if we don’t need it. I realized this about myself a few months ago when I spent $80 at Walgreens on “great deals.”
Try not to impulse buy.
I think this tip can go along really well with the above tip. Try and spend just $5 per store, if you want to spend over that go home and think about the purchase until tomorrow. If you still feel that it’s something you need then go back and get the item. If it’s not there anymore…well then maybe you didn’t need it!
Stockpile when sales are good.
Ah, this is the foundation of good couponing! I’ve talked about having a stockpile before HERE. If you still don’t understand the benefits, email me! Also as Carrie says, I love the security having a stockpile gives me. During this no spend month for me it’s nice to know that I won’t run out of anything!
Oh and last but not least…..
I always read your blog:)
Ok, that made my day! Did you know that I even read over my blog before I go shopping? I use my own work to help me make my list and find the coupons I need before I go.
Thanks Carrie for all the money saving tips and thanks to all else who entered the giveaway! There will be more to come soon!
