Time to see how our food budget this month stacked up! If you follow this little post monthly you know that we try and spend not over $225 each month (for the 3 of us) on almost all organic and natural foods.
We had an interesting month since we went on vacation and bought things to fill our pantry while we were there. I don’t normally get the chance to shop at stores like Whole Foods so I stocked up on a couple random things for the month to come.
Milk – $8
1 Gallon Raw Goat’s Milk, 1/2 Gallon Cows Milk
Whole Foods – $59
Vegenaise (2 jars), Cottage Cheese, Orange Juice (3 bottles), Applegate Hotdogs (6 packs, I pay way too much for these, they were cheap here! I stocked up an froze them.) Rice Lasagna.
Platte Hutterite Colony – $25
4 Whole Chickens
Vitacost: – $6
16 pounds Gluten Free Oats (I had credits to Vitacost so we just had to pay shipping, good deal! You can also get a coupon code for $10 off a $30 order when you sign up here. Then share with your friends to get more credits!)
Tropical Traditions – $30
21 pounds of grass-fed, organic Butter, 10lbs Brown Rice Flour. (I had credits so this was much cheaper than regular price. We LOVE this butter!)
Safeway – $10
Bread (2 loaves), Lunchmeat. (As I explained last month but hubby is the only one in our house not gluten free and he likes sandwiches to take for lunch. Instead of making all these things just for him I’ve found it more worth my time to buy. I’m not perfect!)
Azure Standard – $79.60
Organic Mozzarella Cheese (1lb), organic apples (3lbs), cream cheese (9lbs, yes really…I use it for lots of gluten free baking dishes), Straus Organic Yogurt, Natural Chocolate Chips (1lb), Natural Value Olives, Organic Prairie Roasted Chicken and Turkey Slices (these make the EASIEST toddler meals!), Newman’s Mint Cookies, Frozen Peas (3 bags), Romaine Lettuce, Onions (3lb).
Just under budget! And we stocked up for another several months with butter and oats. As I’ve mentioned previously, our monthly budget does not include meat (besides the whole chickens and lunchmeat type stuff). We buy beef in bulk from family and chicken breasts in bulk from Zaycon. We plan out our meals a month in advance so I know exactly what I need to get for our lunches, breakfasts, and suppers after what I have in the pantry and freezer. We now have our Monthly From Scratch Meal Plans for sale for everyone to use! (Get a sample here first.)
