Classic Egg Salad Recipe

A classic egg salad recipe should be in everyone’s repertoire. It can be a hearty and satisfying lunch for one, or a slightly dressed up side dish at a gathering. Egg salad does not require much in the way of cooking skills, so virtually anyone can make this.

Egg Salad

A classic Egg salad recipe is also easily jazzed up. Sure, the simple, basic recipe tastes terrific on its own. But there are also a TON of yummy add-ins you can throw in the recipe to really make a simple egg salad recipe something special.

Some of my favorites are:

  • dijon mustard
  • dill pickle relish
  • fresh herbs — dill, parsley, and chives are all delicious
  • paprika
  • Sriracha sauce (for the more adventurous palates) or Tabasco
  • 1/2 mashed avocado
  • bacon bits

Egg Salad is a lifesaver for me some nights if I forget to take something out of the freezer for dinner early enough. I can quickly whip up a hearty egg salad sandwich for everyone to make a simple but hearty and healthy dinner.

This recipe serves 2, but you can easily adjust it to make more or less.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs hard-boiled. I use this technique to peel them easily.
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/2 celery rib finely diced
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Use an  Egg Slicer to slice the peeled eggs lengthwise, then pick it up and slice it again in the opposite direction.
  2. In a medium bowl, gently mix the eggs, the mayonnaise, and the celery.
  3. Add the spices and mix until combined.
  4. Serve on Basic White Bread or on a bed of greens.

  1. When I make egg salad I peel the eggs then run them through my Salad Shooter with the shredding piece on it. Shreds them right up!
