Pizza is one of my favorite things to make! It’s baking, designing, and creating all at once. You even get a meal out of it. Not only is this pizza incredibly tasty, but it’s also a great way to sneak some veggies into your meal. Sweet potatoes are packed with vitamins and minerals, making this pizza delicious and nutritious.

Here’s how to make this sweet potato pizza recipe.

Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients in Sweet Potato Pizza

To start off, let’s gather all the ingredients you’ll need for this delectable sweet potato pizza. You’ll need:

  • Pizza dough. You can use Homemade Pizza Dough, of course! For a super quick pizza, make this 3 Ingredient Pizza Dough or if you have sourdough, make this Sourdough Pizza Crust.
  • Sweet potatoes. These should be peeled and cut into big and chunky pieces, then roasted. You use canned goods if you have them.
  • Your choice of vegetables. All veggies should be cut into chunks and then roasted for the best flavor.
  • Cherry tomatoes. Fresh or roasted. Sun Dried tomatoes would also be good!
  • Cumin, Salt, and Turmeric. These are the best seasonings on this particular pizza.
  • Fresh meatballs. Store Make Ahead Meatballs in your freezer so you have them any time you need them.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Making Meatball and Sweet Potato Pizza

You can use any pizza dough recipe for this. Merissa has a great one right here: Pizza Crust From Scratch – How to Make Pizza Dough. While my pizza dough is rising, I enjoy preparing some delicious veggies for roasting.

Start by heating the oven to 375 and placing foil on a baking pan. Next up, gather some veggies to be prepped and cut. I start by peeling three sweet potatoes and go from there. Once peeled, I cut them into big, chunky pieces and placed them into a big green bowl.

I layer some spices (cumin, pink salt, and turmeric) on my veggies. Then, I drizzle a generous portion of olive oil and mix it well to combine.

Once that’s ready, I add as many colorful cherry tomatoes as desired. Whether fresh or roasted, cherry tomatoes are delicious and flavorful. Yum!

Once I stir it all together, it’s ready for spreading. I dump and spread my veggies onto the foil pan, leaving a space in the center for the meatballs.

I place my fresh meatballs in the center of my baking sheet in the oven to bake at 375 for about 17 minutes. Then, I turn the meatballs over and let them bake for another 17 minutes.

Meat balls and Veggies

The flavor is bursting, and the kitchen smells fresh and wonderful! I highly recommend roasting the veggies for prep before adding them to the pizza. There’s so much flavor, and it’s so much fun!

Roasted veggies and meat balls

When your veggies are done, take them out and let them rest.

Tip: For this large amount of roasted food, I like to set aside half for our pizza and half for another meal in the fridge. I just store them in a container and use them within a few days.

For the pizza, I slice up half the meatballs, take half the veggies, and gather them all on top of a freshly prepared pizza dough with the following toppings: tomato paste, basil, oregano, rosemary, garlic, olive oil, and pepper jack cheese.

Once my roasted toppings are on my pizza, I cover it with a moderate portion of freshly shredded white cheddar cheese and sprinkle with more basil.

Veggies and Meatballs on pizza dough

The last step of prep is optional (but fun!). Raspberry is a favorite flavor of mine, so I love to top all my pizzas with a healthy drizzle of raspberry balsamic vinaigrette. Pick your poison, and enjoy experimenting with fun signature flavors!

This pizza bakes well at 475 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Enjoy and share! This makes a lot of hearty food.
