What We Did This Week: Small Projects & Family

This week at our cabin, it was all about working on small projects as we continue to get ready for winter. We started the week off with another fishing trip since we’d promised the kids we’d try again after having no luck the week prior. We didn’t have luck again this time, unfortunately. We may need to dive into learning better bait/lure ideas for that lake.

I canned up my tomatoes from Azure into 7 quarts of tomato soup. Plus, there was some leftover for lunch this weekend. That’s 7 lunches put away in our pantry! I serve this with grilled cheese.

The sunsets have been extra beautiful right now with the changing colors. We are soaking in every minute of this golden time before the world turns white!

We went out for an adventure to pick some rosehips this week and make jelly. I love this mossy, rocky area on our land. The temperature here really was perfect this week, and about 65 each day. I didn’t get a pic of the jelly, but you can watch me make it on our YouTube channel tomorrow.

I also made a spiced pear jelly with some tiny canning pears I had gotten from my mom a while back. For some reason, the jelly didn’t turn out, so now we have spiced pear syrup instead. It’ll taste great on pancakes!

My tiniest boy is 7 months old already. If we could just stop time or slow it down, that would be wonderful! Our whole family is enjoying him so much. ❤️
This weekend we are spending time with family that is visiting. Next week I’m planning on getting some of my put off projects done and then we will also be doing our monthly shopping so I need to get planning for that.
Talk to you again next week!

I made elderberry jelly that didn’t set up either. The recipe called for liquid pectin which I had not used before and next time I’ll use powdered pectin. I know jelly can have a mind of its own though!
Wow, the baby is growing so quick. It only seems like yesterday when you brought him home.
Good for you! You are still adding more completed canning to your original 300 jar goal! Your land is beautiful and your littlest one so sweet. God bless you guys and as you get more projects finished for the coming winter.
Looks like you had a beautifully productive week! Your little man is adorable 🙂
